Why Alex needs a custom insert

IKEA Alex drawers have a very specific interior: about 26.5 cm wide by 37 cm deep, with heights that vary from 3.5 cm shallow on top to 10.5 cm deep at the bottom. Cheap extendable dividers never quite fill that footprint — they leave a gap on one side, and your pens migrate into it within a week. Gridfinity is gorgeous but assumes you own a 3D printer and want to spend an evening tuning it.

Do I need to measure my Alex drawer?
No — the presets are pre-set to IKEA’s published Alex interior dimensions (26.5 × 37 cm). If you own a non-standard variant or a hacked drawer, punch in your own measurements and the editor rebuilds the layout to match.
What if my Alex is the old model?
Older Alex units used 26 × 37 cm interior instead of the current 26.5 × 37. Both presets are in the editor. Choose the one that matches your drawer or type in your own numbers.
How long does shipping take?
Shallow single-drawer inserts usually ship in 3 business days from Toronto; multi-drawer sets take up to 7. Canada Post rates are calculated live at checkout.
Can I get more than one insert for different drawers in the stack?
Yes. Add each design to your cart separately — one Alex 5 stack usually ends up with a shallow office-supplies insert on top and a deeper tool insert on the bottom. Bulk multi-drawer orders share one shipment.
What plastic do you print in?
Matte PLA — non-toxic, low-odour, dishwasher-safe up to 40 °C. Body colour and one accent colour are picked from our current filament inventory in the editor.
